FEDUCATION 2017 “Finland Education in China” training program at Chongqing Shanhu Primary School

In April, 2017, the “Finland Education in China” serial teacher training program of FEDUCATION returned to Chongqing. The expert group was invited to the Shanhu Experimental Primary School in Chongqing to carry out a five-day in-depth training in Finland education. Top experts in mathematics, English, science and home-economics came to the school to guide on-site and communicated with Shanhu Primary School teachers. 

On the 24th and 25th, Finnish education experts provided a one-and-a-half-day classroom observation and comment for the Shanhu teachers. Finnish education experts highly praised the teachers of Shanhu Primary School and put forward specific suggestions to improve the teaching quality. Finnish expert team and Shanhu teachers also discussed topics such as classroom time management and proposed solutions.

On the 25th and 26th, Finnish education experts conducted in-depth discussions on curriculum reform, classroom design, teacher professionalism, and multidisciplinary teaching with teachers from Shanhu school and its alliance schools through the keynote lectures.

 

After the training activities of classroom observations and comments, and subject-based teaching seminars, from April 27 to 28, the training activities in Finland’s basic education entered the third phase. Finnish education experts and the teachers of Shanhu Experimental Primary School conducted a heterogeneous display of the same subject, including English, science, mathematics, and comprehensive practice of four subjects. Finnish education experts demonstrated phenomenon-based teaching, and instructed teachers to experience, understand and reflect on the relevant educational concepts and theories in teaching practice.
